The Hong Kong Stroke Society commemorated World Stroke Day 2024 with a series of events in October and November of 2024.

Part 1 – 風show快活人

On 12 October 2024, the first World Stroke Day 2024 event was held at Shatin Town Hall in collaboration with the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation. Dr. Quentin Li and Ms Karin Chow delivered public health talks to the audience, and a physical trainer demonstrated exercises for participants. Stroke survivors shared their recovery journeys, and there were musical and singing performances by patient self-help groups.

Part 2 – Part Tram Tour

On 27 October 2024, the second World Stroke Day 2024 event was held in the form of a part tram tour. The event began with the HKMSS Prize presentation ceremony for Medical Students and Stroke Nurses at Whitty Street Tram Depot. Then 2-hour tour then began, starting from Whitty Street in the Western District, passed through Sheung Wan, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, and finally back to Whitty Street. Council members, sponsors, medical students and stroke nurses enthusiastrically shouted slogans while displaying props, banners, and handing out souvenirs to the public.

Part 3 – “Strike Out Stroke” Student Ambassador Scheme

The third and last World Stroke Day 2024 event was held in partnership with Tramplus. On 30 November 2024, the HKMSS selected a group of secondary school students to participant in a student ambassador scheme, which included a training course on stroke awareness, and the use of the latest AI technology and tools to create mascots and promotional videos to promote stroke awareness to the public. Students who completed the course were awarded the AI Course Certificate and became Stroke Ambassadors to help spread awareness within their communities.
